I don’t usually do this but it was worth telling others about.
Giveaway of the Day is a site that gives you a free software selection available for download each day. Today is Photo Toolkit 1.5 which allows you to edit pictures within Windows picture viewer (the thing that comes up usually when you double click a picture). I’m looking for something that would help me take a series of data and look at it from a variety of angles. I want to be able to input a bunch of information: student names, grades, teacher names, subjects, etc. Then I’d love to be able to group and graph things a bunch of different ways: average grade by student, average grade by teacher, average grade by subject, etc. I can’t figure out how to do this smoothly and quickly in excel, and I’m wondering if there are other programs …

I personally think TAGS are probably the single coolest invention of 2005. My desire in 2006 is for someone to make a program that would allow me to add tags to any and all files on my desktop. There are those who like our traditional file folder system, it’s a mirror of the sort of physical world that we live in.
